Before You Buy a Charger - Check Your Socket!

Before buying a charger, you must decide which socket you'll use for charging. This is the most important decision because it determines charging power and compatibility.

Most Popular Types of Industrial Sockets:

Look for the 16A or 32A marking embossed on the plastic cover or placed on a sticker — it indicates the socket type.

CEE 16A socket (3-phase, red) → 11 kW Charger ⭐

  1. Fast charging (EV3 81.4 kWh: ~7-8h)
  2. Full utilization of vehicle capability
  3. Installation cost: PLN 500-1,500

If you don't want to decide: Choose Q11 with adapters – you'll be able to charge from both socket types.

230V socket (standard) → 3.7 kW Charger

  • You have it in every home, but very slow (EV3 81.4 kWh: ~22h)
  • Requires proper installation with grounding
  • Only as backup

Which Ampere Point Charger to Choose?

Since EV3 has a 10.5-11 kW onboard charger, the best choice is:

⭐ Q11 or P11 – 11 kW Portable Charger

Why Q11?

  1. Take it everywhere (requires CEE 16A, 3-phase)
  2. Universal: home + trips + public sockets
  3. Full utilization of EV3 onboard charger power
  4. Maximum flexibility

Q11 charging times:

  1. EV3 58.3 kWh: 5-6h (0-100%)
  2. EV3 81.4 kWh: 7-8h (0-100%)

For whom: Most users – if you want one charger for everything.

👉 Q11 (portable 11 kW) – best choice for EV3 👉 P11 (portable 11 kW) – equally good choice :)

FAQ – Most Common Questions

1. Can I charge EV3 from 230V socket?

Yes, but very slowly (2.2-2.3 kW). Full charging of 81.4 kWh takes ~36 hours. Makes sense only in emergencies.

2. Which battery version is better – 58.3 or 81.4 kWh?

58.3 kWh – if:

  1. You drive mainly city + surroundings (<200 km daily)
  2. You have access to home charging
  3. You want to save PLN 18,000

81.4 kWh – if:

  1. You drive long distances
  2. You want to charge less frequently
  3. You care about maximum range (605 km WLTP)

Our recommendation: If you can, pay extra for 81.4 kWh – the difference is only PLN 18k, and you gain 40% more range.

3. What socket do I need for Q11/P11?

CEE 16A (3-phase) – so-called "industrial" red socket. Installation cost: PLN 500-1,500. If you want 32A - contact us and we'll exchange it. Q11 is also available with adapters - then you can charge from regular socket as well as industrial.

5. Is it worth waiting for 22 kW charger version?

Yes, if:

  1. You don't charge overnight - don't have time
  2. You have solar panels and installation that can handle such load
  3. You want to quickly recharge between trips (4h instead of 8h)

In this situation buy Q22 charger

If you charge at night and have 8+ hours – 11 kW is completely sufficient.

Summary

Kia EV3 is one of the most practical EVs under PLN 200,000. Record range, flat charging curve, V2L function and i-Pedal 3.0 make this car ideal for both daily commutes and long trips.

✅ Best charger choice:
