Which charger should you choose for the GAC AION V?
The AION V charges from alternating current at 11 kW, exactly like the AION UT. The right choice is a Q11 or a P11, both rated at 11 kW - you control the first from an app, the second has an LCD display. The socket in the car is Type 2, so the cable is standard.
Are the AION UT and AION V matched the same way?
Yes. Both GAC models in our database have an identical 11 kW onboard charger, so there is one recommendation: a Q11 or P11. The difference concerns only the battery, with capacities from 60 to 75.3 kWh, which affects time rather than the choice of device.
How long does a full charge of a 75.3 kWh battery take?
At 11 kW the largest battery in the GAC range, 75.3 kWh, charges from zero to full in roughly 7-8 hours. The smaller one, 60 kWh, needs around 6 hours. In practice that means plugging in once for the night, with nothing to watch over.
What do I need at home to charge a GAC at 11 kW?
The full 11 kW requires a three-phase supply. If your garage has only one phase, the charger will deliver around 3.7 kW at most and topping up 60 kWh will take considerably longer. Before choosing a Q11 or P11, check what is wired to your parking spot - it is the most important decision with this range.
How much will a GAC AION V add over one night?
At 11 kW, eight hours parked is around 88 kWh of energy, more than the largest battery in the range holds at 75.3 kWh. In practice that means even from a nearly empty battery you drive off full in the morning. That is why with this range there is no need to look for anything stronger than a Q11.
Q11 or P11 for a GAC AION UT - how do they differ?
They do not differ in power; both chargers deliver 11 kW, so charging time is identical. You control the Q11 from an app over WiFi and adjust the current there. The P11 has an LCD display and simpler operation without reaching for your phone. The choice therefore depends purely on how you prefer to operate the equipment day to day.
