Which charger for the Aiways U5?
The Aiways U5 has an 11 kW onboard charger, so we match a Q11 or P11 rated at 11 kW with a Type 2 connector. With a 60 kWh battery a full charge takes around 6 hours. A more powerful unit changes nothing here, because the car sets the limit on how much power it draws.
Does the Aiways U6 need a different charger from the U5?
No. Both versions in our database, the U5 and the U6, have the same 11 kW onboard power and the same Type 2 connector. The choice is identical: a portable charger or a wallbox rated at 11 kW. The difference between these models has no bearing on which charging equipment you pick.
How long does it take to charge a 60 kWh battery in an Aiways?
With alternating current what counts is the onboard power. At 11 kW a 60 kWh battery fills in around 6 hours, counted from close to empty. On a 7.4 kW unit the same cycle would take around 8 to 9 hours.
Will a 22 kW charger speed up charging an Aiways?
It will not. Both models in the range have 11 kW onboard and that is the most they will draw from the socket, whatever you plug in. A Q22 will be capped by the car at 11 kW, so the higher power will not save you a single hour of charging.
What connector do Aiways cars use?
All U5 and U6 versions from the 2020 to 2023 model years have a Type 2 connector. That is the European standard, so both a portable charger and a wallbox from our range will fit. You do not need an adapter or a Type 1 cable.
Q11 or P11 at 11 kW?
Both charge equally fast, because the limit is the car's 11 kW onboard charger. The Q11 is operated from an app where you can also adjust the current, while the P11 shows its parameters on an LCD display. Both models are portable and will travel in your boot. Reaching 11 kW requires a three-phase installation.
