Which charger should you choose for the Dongfeng Box?
It depends on the version. The Box comes with either a 3.3 kW or a 6.6 kW onboard charger. For the first we match a 3.7 kW Q37, for the second a 7.4 kW Q74. Both versions have a Type 2 socket, so the plug is the same and only the device's power differs.
Why do you recommend a 3.7 kW Q37 for the 3.3 kW version?
Because the car's onboard charger sets the pace. A Box limited to 3.3 kW will draw its 3.3 kW from a 3.7 kW device too, and the Q37 is the closest available power step. There is no point going lower or higher - the result on the meter will be identical.
How long does charging a Dongfeng Box from empty to full take?
Batteries in the Box run from 29 to 40 kWh. The 3.3 kW version will charge the smaller battery in around 9-10 hours and the larger one in 12-13 hours. The 6.6 kW version shortens that to roughly 5-7 hours. With the slower version it is worth plugging in as soon as you get home.
How does the charger choice differ between the two Box versions?
The only difference is power. The whole Dongfeng range in our database is one model and two versions: 3.3 kW and 6.6 kW. The first gets a 3.7 kW Q37 or P35, the second a 7.4 kW Q74 or P72. The Type 2 connector and the way you plug in stay the same.
Will an 11 kW charger speed up charging a Box?
No. The most powerful Box version accepts 6.6 kW, so an 11 kW device would deliver exactly the same current. The car always caps the draw at what its onboard charger allows. The highest sensible step for this model is a 7.4 kW Q74, and for the 3.3 kW version a Q37.
How do I check which Box version I have?
The simplest way is the technical data in the manual or the vehicle document - look for the entry on alternating current charging. You will find either 3.3 kW or 6.6 kW there. The model years in our database are 2024-2026, and the battery capacity of 29 or 40 kWh also helps identify the version.
