Which charger do we match to the e.GO e.wave X?
The e.wave X has an 11 kW onboard charger and a Type 2 connector, so we match a portable charger or an 11 kW Q11 wallbox. It is the only e.GO model in our listing and the only version, which is why the recommendation is unambiguous for the whole brand and does not depend on equipment.
How long does charging the 27 kWh battery in the e.wave X take?
The e.wave X battery holds 27 kWh, so at the full 11 kW charging from a low state to full takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. It is one of the smallest batteries in our listing, so the car will charge during a longer break rather than needing a whole night.
Is a 3.7 kW charger enough for a 27 kWh battery?
It is enough if you charge overnight. A 3.7 kW Q37 will top up 27 kWh in around 7 to 8 hours. A Q11, however, will use the full 11 kW of the e.wave X onboard charger and cut that to around 3 hours, so with this car the difference is noticeable in everyday use.
Will the e.GO benefit from a 22 kW charger?
No. The e.wave X onboard charger stops at 11 kW and that is the upper limit the car will draw from alternating current. A 22 kW Q22 will not shorten charging, because the surplus power has nowhere to go. The Q11 exhausts what this car can do.
Do we need a Type 1 cable for the e.wave X?
No. The only e.GO version in our listing has a Type 2 connector, the European standard used in chargers for passenger cars. Neither a Type 1 cable nor an adapter is needed. The standard equipment of an 11 kW Q11 is enough, or a P11 if you prefer a display to an app.
Does the e.GO model year change the charger choice?
No. The e.wave X from the 2022-2024 model years has the same 11 kW onboard charger, the same 27 kWh battery and the same Type 2 connector throughout that period. Whatever the model year, we match an 11 kW Q11 or a P11 if you prefer a display to an app.
