Prime is a wall-mounted AC charger for electric vehicles, made for homes, apartment blocks and company fleets - anywhere with up to 3 charging points. TÜV Rheinland certification, dual electrical protection and a 7.5 m charging cable all come as standard - at a price where rivals often offer less than half the spec.

Yes. If you already have a suitable CEE 16A socket at home or in your garage, just fix Prime to a wall or mounting post and plug it in. For a hardwired connection, use a qualified electrician.

Does Prime work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. Basic charging works offline. You only need Wi-Fi for the Tuya app, remote scheduling and OTA software updates.

Can I buy extra RFID cards?

Yes. Extra RFID cards are available separately, though the 3 cards in the box should be plenty for most users. :)

Can I schedule charging without the app?

Yes. Set the charging timer using the buttons on the unit - no app login needed.

Frequently asked questions about EV chargers

11 kW wallbox or 11 kW portable charger?

A wallbox is the most convenient option: it's permanently installed and adds RFID access control and optional load balancing.

An 11 kW portable charger gives you the same charging power, but you can take it with you and plug it into a CEE industrial socket.

Many customers choose a wallbox for everyday charging at home and keep a portable charger as a backup for trips.

How long does charging at 11 kW take?

Approximate charging times:

  • 40 kWh battery: around 4 hours
  • 60 kWh battery: around 6 hours
  • 80 kWh battery: around 8 hours

In practice it's often quicker, because most drivers top up from 20-30% rather than from empty.

A plug-in hybrid with a 10-18 kWh battery can charge in 1-2 hours if the vehicle supports 11 kW AC charging.

Is an 11 kW wallbox enough for my EV?

For most EVs and plug-in hybrids, yes. Most EVs support AC charging at up to 11 kW, while many plug-in hybrids are limited to 3.7-7.4 kW. If your car charges on a single phase at 7.4 kW, choose the 22 kW wallbox: an 11 kW wallbox would give it only 3.7 kW.

For a three-phase car, a 22 kW wallbox only charges faster if the onboard charger supports 22 kW AC charging. Check your vehicle's specification or use our charger finder.

How many amps is 11 kW?

An 11 kW wallbox draws 16 A on each of the three phases (3 x 16 A at 400 V).

That's usually well within what a standard three-phase home supply can deliver.

What supply and wiring does an 11 kW wallbox need?

For the full 11 kW you need a three-phase supply and a dedicated circuit protected by a suitable circuit breaker.

Prime 11 kW has electrical protection built in (a 30 mA Type A RCD plus DC leakage detection), so there's no need for an expensive Type B RCD.

Any work on the wiring should always be done by a qualified electrician.

Is it safe to charge an electric car in the rain?

Yes. All our chargers are certified water-resistant (IP65 or IP66, depending on the model).

Can I use an extension lead to charge my electric car?

We don't recommend using ordinary extension leads to charge electric cars. A standard extension lead may not be rated for high loads, which can cause overheating or even a fire. If you have to use one, make sure it's designed for high loads, meets the relevant standards and is approved for use with your charger.
