How to set Prime charging times in the Tuya app

The Tuya app lets you set when your AMPERE POINT Prime charger receives a command to start or stop charging. This guide creates two scenes: one stops charging that starts between 07:00 and 22:00, and the other sends START every day at 22:01.

Before you begin

Your Prime charger should already be added to Tuya and available online. These scenes run in the Tuya cloud, so the charger needs an internet connection for them to work.

The device in the screenshots is named AmperePoint EV Charger 11. Select your own Prime charger in the app. We retain the English option names shown on screen; translations and the layout may vary by app version.

The times and daily repetition are examples. Adjust them to your charging plan. For Prime, we use Working Status and START/STOP.

How the two scenes work

• Stop 7-22: when the charger changes to Charging between 07:00 and 22:00, the scene sends STOP.
• Start 22:01: a separate scene sends START every day at 22:01.

Precondition limits when a scene can act; it does not trigger it. If the car is already charging before 07:00, the start of this period does not send STOP. To stop that session, add the separate 07:00 command described below. A rule triggered by Charging stops charging after it starts, so there may be a brief energy draw before STOP takes effect. The end of the period at 22:00 does not send START.

Part 1. Stop charging that starts between 07:00 and 22:00

Step 1. Create a scene triggered by device status

Open Smart → Automation, tap + and choose Create Scene. Then select When device status changes, Select a single device and your Prime charger.

Step 2. Select Working Status: Charging

Open Working Status, select Charging and tap Confirm. The If section should now show Working Status: Charging.

Step 3. Add an action for the same charger

In Then, tap + or Add Task. Choose Device → Select a single device and select the same Prime charger whose status you monitor in If.

Step 4. Set START/STOP: STOP

Expand START/STOP, select STOP and tap Confirm. Then should show START/STOP: STOP. This scene only needs the stop command; do not add a current change through Set Charging Current.

Step 5. Set the 07:00–22:00 period and repetition

Open Precondition → Effective Period. In Active Period, select Custom and set Time Period to 07:00–22:00 on the Same Day. Set Repeat to Every day. Confirm the times and period with Confirm, then close Precondition with OK.

Step 6. Save the Stop 7-22 scene

Check If — Working Status: Charging, Then — START/STOP: STOP and Precondition — 07:00–22:00. Tap Save, name the scene Stop 7-22 and tap Confirm. Enable its switch in the automation list.

Part 2. Start every day at 22:01

Step 7. Create a scene with the Schedule trigger

Return to Smart → Automation and select + → Create Scene. This time, tap Schedule, marked with a clock icon. This scene runs at a specified time.

Step 8. Select 22:01 and Every day

In Timer, select Specific time. Set Time to 22:01 and Repeat to Every day, then tap Confirm. Once only runs just once. The 22:01 time separates the start command from the end of the STOP period at 22:00.

Step 9. Add START/STOP: START

In Then, select + → Device → Select a single device and the same Prime charger. Open START/STOP, select START and tap Confirm. Leave Precondition: All day. This setup does not add a current or operating mode change.

Step 10. Save the Start 22:01 scene

Check If — Schedule: 22:01, Every day, Then — START/STOP: START and Precondition — All day. Tap Save, enter Start 22:01 and confirm. Both Start 22:01 and Stop 7-22 should be enabled in the list.

How to stop an ongoing session at 07:00

If the car may already be charging before 07:00, add a third scene. It sends STOP at the start of the selected period, supplementing the two scenes above.

1. Choose Create Scene → Schedule → Specific time. Set 07:00 and Repeat → Every day.
2. In Then, select your Prime charger and set START/STOP → STOP, as in step 4.
3. Leave Precondition: All day. Save the scene as Stop 07:00 and enable it.

Check the configuration and test it

Saving a scene confirms the setup in the app. Also check how the charger and car respond to its commands.

• Check the device, times, repeat days and enabled switches in every scene. If you change the days, align all scenes with the new plan.
• Check that charging started during 07:00–22:00 is stopped. If you added Stop 07:00, also test a session already running before that time.
• Check that the charger receives START at 22:01 and the connected car starts charging. Account for the car's own schedule and charge limit.
• If a command does not work, check the Tuya scene execution history, the charger's internet connection and the local time. Also check other automations for conflicting commands.
