Tuya schedules and automations — how to control charging hours

Jan Prószyński

In Tuya (Smart Life), you can set timed commands and rules that respond to the state of your AMPERE POINT charger. Schedules and automations complement each other: a schedule acts at set times, while an automation responds to charging starting within a selected period.

A schedule sends a command at a specified time. A blocking automation uses Work State: Charger Charging and Switch: OFF, limited by Precondition. It stops charging after it starts; it does not prevent the initial start or replace a stop command at the beginning of the period.

Combine a scheduled stop at the beginning of the period with an automation that stops charging started during that period. Use a separate timed command to resume charging afterwards. The end of a Precondition period does not turn charging on.

The schedules and automations described in this guide are stored and triggered in the Tuya cloud, not in the charger's memory. At the scheduled time or after detecting an event, the cloud sends a command to the device. The charger must be connected to the internet for these commands to work.

If your vehicle has its own charging schedule, configure it according to the vehicle manual as an additional restriction on when it draws energy.
