Type 2 - EU standard

We cover Subaru with three models: the E-Outback, Uncharted and Solterra, 6 versions in total from model years 2022-2026, all fully electric. Five of them have a 22 kW onboard charger, and for them we match the Q22, while the one version with 6.6 kW will not make use of anything beyond a 7.4 kW Q74. Batteries sit in a narrow band from 54 to 72 kWh, with a Type 2 connector in every car.

Charging Subaru - FAQ

Which charger for the Subaru Solterra?

It depends on the version. The Solterra AWD from 2022-2026 has 6.6 kW onboard and there we match a Q74 or a portable P72 rated at 7.4 kW. Only the Solterra AWD 73.1 kWh from the 2026 model year accepts 22 kW, and for that a Q22 makes sense, with a three-phase supply at home. A more powerful device will not speed up the older Solterra.

How long does charging a Subaru with a large battery take?

The largest Subaru batteries in our database are around 72 kWh. At the full 22 kW from a Q22, a complete cycle from a low state is around 4 hours. At 11 kW it stretches to 7 to 8 hours, and at single-phase 7.4 kW to around 11 hours.

Is a Q22 worth buying if I only have one phase at home?

No. With a single-phase installation the Subaru will draw a maximum of 7.4 kW no matter how powerful a wallbox you hang on the wall. In that situation we match a Q74 or a portable P72. After extending the supply to three phases, moving to a Q22 will cut charging of a 54 to 72 kWh battery by roughly threefold.

Which Subaru version has only 6.6 kW onboard?

The Solterra AWD from the 2022-2026 model years, one of six versions in our database. For it we match a Q74 or a portable P72 rated at 7.4 kW, because chargers are not made at exactly 6.6 kW. A Q22 changes nothing here: the car will draw its 6.6 kW and stop there.
