Which charger should you choose for the Jaguar I-Pace?
The I-Pace is the only fully electric model in this range, with a battery reaching 84.7 kWh and AC charging at 11 kW. We match a portable charger or a Q11 wallbox to it, or a P11 with a display instead of app control. The socket is Type 2, the same as in the other Jaguars in our database.
Does the hybrid F-Pace need a different charger from the I-Pace?
Yes. The plug-in versions, the E-Pace and F-Pace, have batteries from 11.6 kWh and a 7.4 kW onboard charger, so a Q74 or P72 goes to them. The electric I-Pace accepts 11 kW and requires a Q11. These are two different power tiers within one range.
How long does charging an 84.7 kWh battery take?
At 11 kW a full charge from empty takes roughly 8-9 hours, so it fits into one night. Hybrid batteries in this range, from 11.6 kWh, charge at 7.4 kW in around 2 hours. The difference in capacity here is more than sevenfold.
I have a 2018 Jaguar - is the choice different from newer cars?
Our database covers the 2018-2025 model years and in all of them the connector is the same, Type 2. Only the charging power changes: 7.4 kW or 11 kW, depending on the version. So the car's age does not decide the choice; the alternating current charging entry in the technical data does.
Is an 11 kW charger worth buying in reserve for a hybrid Jaguar?
It is not. The plug-in versions stop at 7.4 kW and will draw exactly the same from an 11 kW device. With a battery of around 11.6 kWh we are talking about roughly two hours of charging, and more powerful equipment will not shorten that. A Q74 or P72 settles the matter.
Will one charger serve both an I-Pace and an F-Pace?
Yes. If an electric I-Pace and a plug-in F-Pace stand at home, one 11 kW device is enough - a Q11 or P11. The I-Pace will use the full power and the hybrid will limit its own draw to its 7.4 kW. It does not work the other way round: a Q74 will slow down charging the I-Pace.
