The AmperePoint Type 2 to Tesla NACS adapter lets you charge a car with a NACS (SAE J3400) charging port – most often a Tesla or another EV imported from the USA or Canada – from a European wallbox or public AC charging station with a Type 2 cable.

Who is it for

• Owners of Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X imported from North America, which have a NACS port instead of Type 2.
• Owners of other imported EVs with a NACS charging port.

Important: Teslas sold new in Europe already have a Type 2 port and do not need this adapter. Check which port your car has before buying.

How to use

1. Insert the NACS end of the adapter into the vehicle charging port.
2. Connect the Type 2 plug of the charging cable to the other end of the adapter.
3. Start charging as usual from the wallbox or charging station.

The adapter connects directly to the charging plug, with no extra cable section in between. Its compact size makes it easy to keep in the car and take on the road.

Charging power

AC charging through the NACS port is single-phase. With a 32 A charger at 230 V this gives up to approx. 7.4 kW; on a three-phase wallbox the car charges from one phase. Actual power depends on the vehicle's onboard charger, the charger settings and the electrical installation.

FAQ

Can I use it at a Tesla Supercharger or a DC charger?
No. The adapter is for AC charging only and is not intended for DC charging or Tesla Superchargers.

Does it work with a European Tesla?
European Teslas have a Type 2 port and charge from Type 2 cables directly – they do not need this adapter.

Will it work with my home wallbox?
Yes, if the wallbox has a Type 2 cable or a Type 2 socket with a Type 2 cable. Any AC charger with a Type 2 connector is compatible.
