Which charger for the Chery Tiggo 8?
All Chery versions in our database have a 6.6 kW onboard charger. The closest available step is a Q74 or P72 rated at 7.4 kW, with a Type 2 connector. The car will draw its 6.6 kW from it, and that is the correct match for the Tiggo 8.
Why do you recommend a 7.4 kW charger for 6.6 kW?
Chargers are made in fixed power steps: 3.7 kW, 7.4 kW, 11 kW and 22 kW. The closest step to 6.6 kW onboard is 7.4 kW, meaning the Q74. The car itself will cap the draw at its 6.6 kW, while the lower 3.7 kW step would nearly double the charging time.
Are the Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 matched the same way?
Yes. The three versions from the 2025 and 2026 model years that we hold have identical 6.6 kW onboard power and a Type 2 connector. That is why we match the same 7.4 kW variant to each of these models: the Q74 controlled from an app, or the P72 with an LCD display. Both versions are portable.
How long does charging a Chery plug-in hybrid take?
Batteries in the Chery range fall between 17.5 and 33 kWh. At 6.6 kW drawn from the grid that gives a full cycle of around 3 to 5 hours. Overnight charging at home fits comfortably within that, even for the largest battery.
Is an 11 kW charger worth it for a Chery?
There is no need. The 6.6 kW onboard figure is a ceiling that no external unit will raise. A Q11 connected to a Tiggo will work exactly like a Q74, delivering 6.6 kW. Choosing a more powerful model will not shorten charging by a single minute.
