Which charger for the CUPRA Born?
The Born charges at 11 kW, so we match a Q11 or a P11 if you prefer operating from a display rather than an app. With the largest battery in the CUPRA range, 79 kWh, a full cycle takes around 7-8 hours. A 22 kW charger will not shorten that, because the car's onboard rectifier sets the limit.
Do CUPRA plug-in hybrids need a different charger from the electric cars?
Yes. In the range 25 versions accept 11 kW and there a Q11 applies, but 6 versions have only 3.6 kW and a 3.7 kW Q37 suits those. Those are mainly plug-in hybrids, of which the database holds 14. With such a version, a more powerful device will speed up nothing.
How do I check which power my CUPRA has?
The range has two levels: 3.6 kW and 11 kW. You will find the figure in the owner's manual in the charging section, or in the technical data for your version. If it reads 3.6 kW, a 3.7 kW Q37 is enough. At 11 kW we match a Q11 or P11, depending on whether you prefer an app or a display.
How long does charging a CUPRA Tavascan at home take?
The Tavascan uses 11 kW and its largest pack holds 77 kWh, so we count around 7-8 hours for a full cycle. Charging overnight fits comfortably. Both the Q11 and the P11 suit this job - both deliver the same 11 kW and the same time.
Do the small hybrid batteries in the range change the choice?
The smallest pack in the database holds 10.4 kWh. At 3.6 kW it fills in around 3 hours, so a 3.7 kW Q37 is entirely sufficient. If your version accepts 3.6 kW, a connected 11 kW device will drop to that value anyway - the time will be identical.
Does a CUPRA need a special cable?
No. All 31 versions in the database, from the 2020 to the 2026 model year, have a Type 2 socket. That removes the question of Type 1 and the B35 model. The choice comes down to power: a Q37 at 3.7 kW or a Q11 at 11 kW, depending on what your version's onboard charger accepts.
