Why do all GWM models get the same charger?
Because the whole range has an identical 11 kW onboard charger. All 9 versions of the ORA 03, ORA 07, WEY 03 and WEY 05 in our database accept exactly the same from alternating current, so the choice always ends with a Q11 - portable or as a wallbox. Battery capacity does not change that.
Do the ORA 03 and WEY 05 take the same time to charge?
No, although both take 11 kW. At the same power the time is decided purely by battery capacity, and across the GWM range that runs between 28.9 and 83.5 kWh. The smallest battery will charge from empty in around 3 hours, the largest needs around 8 hours, meaning one night.
Is a 22 kW charger worth matching to an ORA 07?
There is no point. The onboard charger in every GWM in our database is 11 kW and that is the car's hard limit. A Q22 will deliver at most those same 11 kW, and the car will charge for exactly as long. For this range the right choice is a Q11 or P11.
What socket do GWM cars have?
All 9 versions from 2023-2026 in our database have a Type 2 connector. The oldest versions date from 2023, so you will not meet the older Type 1 here or need adapters. A portable charger or wallbox with a Type 2 plug connects directly.
I only have a single phase at home - what then?
From one phase you will draw around 3.7 kW, so the right choice is a Q37 or P35. The car will charge more slowly: a 28.9 kWh battery then needs around 8 hours, and 83.5 kWh almost a full day. If you drive a lot, consider extending the installation to three phases and only then a Q11.
Do the WEY 03 and WEY 05 need a different set-up from the ORA models?
No. All four models - ORA 03, ORA 07, WEY 03 and WEY 05 - have 11 kW onboard and a Type 2 socket in our database, so the set-up is the same. They differ in battery capacity and therefore in charging time, but not in the power they accept from the charger.
