Which charger do we match to an electric Mazda?
The range holds 8 versions, of which 5 are electric and 3 are plug-in hybrids. Six versions charge at 11 kW and a Q11 suits them, or a P11 if you prefer a display to an app. Two top out at 7.2 kW and there we point to a 7.4 kW Q74. All use a Type 2 connector.
A 2020 Mazda MX-30 and a 2026 Mazda 6e - is the match the same?
The connector yes, the power not necessarily. The whole range from 2020-2026 has Type 2, so the cable fits everywhere. The difference sits in the onboard charger: 11 kW in 6 versions, 7.2 kW in 2. Only that figure settles whether a portable charger or a Q11 wallbox is right, or a Q74.
How does the match differ for the Mazda CX-60 and CX-80 hybrids?
This range holds 3 plug-in hybrid versions, and the smallest battery is 14.5 kWh. Such a pack fills at 7.4 kW in around 2 hours, so a 7.4 kW Q74 is entirely sufficient. More powerful equipment will not shorten that time, because the car itself sets the limit.
How long does charging Mazda's largest battery, 78 kWh, take?
At the onboard 11 kW a full charge from empty takes roughly 7 to 8 hours, so it fits into a single overnight stop. A version with 7.2 kW would need around 11 hours for the same pack. That is why with large batteries we check the onboard power first, not the capacity.
How long does a 14.5 kWh battery in a Mazda hybrid take to charge?
That is the smallest pack in this range and at 7.4 kW it fills in around 2 hours, and at 3.7 kW in around 4. Even the weakest portable charger will manage within a single stop, so there is no point matching 11 kW equipment to plug-in hybrids.
I have a Mazda with 7.2 kW onboard - can I take a Q11 for the future?
You can, the device will work correctly, but the car will still draw only 7.2 kW. The charging time will be identical to a Q74. It only makes sense if you plan to move to one of the 6 Mazda versions with 11 kW onboard, because then the equipment is used in full.
