Which charger for the Ford Mustang Mach-E?
The Mach-E belongs to the 11 kW group, which covers 28 of the 37 Ford versions in our database. We match a portable Q11 or a P11. With a battery reaching 91 kWh, a full charge from a low state is around 9-10 hours, meaning one night in the garage.
I have an older Ford with a Type 1 socket - what then?
The database holds two such versions out of 37, and for those the B35 is intended, a 3.7 kW Type 1 charger. Ordinary Type 2 equipment will not fit them. The remaining 35 Ford versions already have a Type 2 socket and standard chargers.
Ford Kuga plug-in and the electric Explorer - the same charger?
No. Eight versions in the Ford range have only 3.6-3.7 kW onboard, and plug-in hybrids are among them, where a Q37 or P35 is right. The electric Explorer belongs to the 11 kW group, meaning a Q11 or P11. Check your version's onboard power, because both variants occur at Ford.
Are the electric Tourneo models matched differently from the passenger cars?
No. The electric e-Tourneo Custom and e-Tourneo Courier fall into the 11 kW group, which numbers 28 versions in the Ford range, so a Q11 fits, or a P11 if you prefer a display to an app. A larger body does not mean a more powerful onboard charger. All that counts is how much the car draws from the AC socket.
How long does charging take with such varied batteries?
The battery spread in the Ford range is 6.1-91 kWh, so the times are extremely varied too. A small plug-in hybrid battery fills at 3.7 kW in around 2 hours. An electric car with a pack over 80 kWh at 11 kW needs 8-10 hours, which fits comfortably into a night.
Will the Ford Puma Gen-E benefit from a 22 kW charger?
No. Across the whole Ford range, from the 2013 to the 2026 model year, the upper limit of accepted AC power is 11 kW. A 22 kW charger will deliver exactly the same as a Q11 while requiring a stronger electrical installation. For the Puma Gen-E and Ford's other electric cars the maximum is a Q11 or P11.
