Which charger should you choose for the Bentley Bentayga?
The Bentayga Hybrid is the only version of this model in our database and it accepts 7.4 kW, so we match a Q74 or a P72. With a 13.3 kWh pack a full charge takes just under 2 hours. A more powerful device will not shorten that time - in the Bentley range only the Continental GT and GTC Speed have 11 kW.
Why do four Bentley models get two different chargers?
Because the onboard charger is not the same in all of them. Two versions accept a maximum of 7.4 kW, another two 11 kW, and it is the car that decides the charging pace, not the device on the wall. That is why a single recommendation for the whole Bentley range is impossible - we match a Q74 or a Q11 to the specific version.
How long does it take to charge a 21 kWh battery?
The largest battery in this range holds 21 kWh, the smallest 13.3 kWh. At 7.4 kW a full charge from empty takes roughly 2-3 hours, at 11 kW around 2 hours. With capacities like these an overnight stop in the garage is entirely sufficient, even from a portable charger.
Do the Continental GT and Flying Spur charge with the same plug?
Yes. All four models in our database - Continental GT, Continental GTC, Bentayga and Flying Spur - have a Type 2 socket. The cable and plug are therefore identical, and the only thing that genuinely differentiates the choice is the power of the onboard charger: 7.4 kW or 11 kW.
Does a 22 kW charger make sense for a Bentley?
No. In this range the ceiling for alternating current charging is 11 kW, so a 22 kW device will slow down to the car's capability anyway. You would be buying power the car will never use. The most worth considering is a Q11, and for the 7.4 kW versions a Q74.
Which Bentley charger to pick - with an app or with a display?
The difference lies in operation, not in charging speed. The Q74 and Q11 are controlled from an app and let you set a lower current; the P72 and P11 have a display with a timer and simpler operation. All four are portable, so they will travel with you and work at a friend's house. Match the power the same way in every case - to the car's version.
