Which charger for the Alpine A290?
The A290 has an 11 kW onboard charger, so we match 11 kW equipment: the Q11, or the P11 if you prefer a display to an app. With a 52 kWh battery a full charge takes around 5-6 hours. A more powerful device changes nothing here, because the limit is set by the car's electronics, not by the charging point.
How does the choice for the Alpine A390 differ from the A290?
Not at all on the power side - both versions accept 11 kW from alternating current, so in both cases we point to the Q11 or P11. Only the time differs: the A390 with a battery of up to 89 kWh charges in around 8-9 hours, the A290 with 52 kWh in around 5-6 hours.
Why does the whole Alpine range get the same charger model?
Because all four versions in our database, model years 2024-2026, have identical 11 kW onboard power. There are no 3.7 kW or 22 kW variants here, so there is no optional equipment to check. A single 11 kW device will serve any Alpine in this range.
Since the A390 has up to 89 kWh, will a more powerful charger help?
It will not. The A390 accepts a maximum of 11 kW, so a Q22 will charge it in the same 8-9 hours as a Q11. Battery size does not change the limit set by the onboard rectifier. We match power to the car, never in reserve. That is why we stay at 11 kW across the whole range.
Alpine has a Type 2 socket - what does that mean for the choice?
All four versions have a Type 2 socket, so a standard cable and a standard charger will fit. Type 1, which requires the separate B35 model, does not appear here. That simplifies the decision: only power matters, meaning 11 kW, plus whether you prefer app control in the Q11 or a display in the P11.
Portable or wallbox for a car with an 89 kWh battery?
Whatever the form of the device, we stay at 11 kW and at the same charging time, around 8-9 hours with the largest battery in the range. The real choice is the Q11 with app control and current adjustment, or the P11 with a display and simpler operation. With a large battery and daily home charging, convenience matters more than power.
