FAQ

Can you charge every day at home with a portable charger?
Yes. It requires a sound socket on a separate circuit, ideally an industrial one. For daily charging a wallbox is more convenient, though, because you do not have to unpack it every time, and the portable charger then stays in the boot as a solution for the road.
Can I charge an electric car from an ordinary 230 V socket?
Yes, but slowly. A household socket allows charging at up to 16 A, meaning around 3.7 kW. That is enough for plug-in hybrids and for overnight charging, and with a large battery it means well over a dozen hours for a full charge.
What power of portable charger should I choose for my car?
Check the maximum alternating current power your car accepts. Most electric cars support 11 kW, while some plug-in hybrids support only 3.7 kW. A charger more powerful than the car's limit will not shorten the charging time.
What is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2?
Type 2 is the European charging socket standard, present in every car sold in Poland. Type 1 is found in older models from the Japanese and American markets, for example the first-generation Nissan Leaf or the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Can I use an extension lead with a portable charger?
We do not recommend it. A standard extension lead is not designed for many hours under high current and risks overheating. A model with a longer cable, or an extension supplied by the manufacturer for that purpose, is safer.
Is charging in the rain safe?
Yes. Ampere Point portable chargers are rated IP65 or IP66, resistant to water and dust, and the Type 2 connector is protected against accidental disconnection during charging.
