Do we match all BYD models the same way?
No. Across the 32 BYD versions from 2022-2026 there are four levels of onboard power: 11 kW in 22 versions, 7.4 kW in three, 6.6 kW in four and 3.3 kW in three. Hence three different recommendations: the Q11, the Q74 or the Q37. So we start by checking the specific version, not just the model name.
How does the choice for BYD plug-in hybrids differ from the electric cars?
Our BYD listing holds 24 electric versions and 8 plug-in hybrids. The name is not enough: the SEAL U 1.5 DM-i accepts 11 kW and we match a Q11 or P11 to it, while the SEAL 6 and Atto 2 DM-i have 3.3 or 6.6 kW, where the Q37 or Q74 is right. The smallest plug-in battery holds 7.8 kWh.
Does a 22 kW charger make sense for a BYD?
No. None of the 32 BYD versions in our listing accepts more than 11 kW from alternating current. A Q22 will not shorten charging by even a minute, because the car will draw exactly what its onboard charger allows. The most that makes sense for a BYD is a portable charger or a Q11 wallbox rated at 11 kW.
What connector do the BYD ATTO 3 and DOLPHIN use?
