Which charger for a plug-in Range Rover Sport?
The whole Land Rover range in our database has 7.4 kW onboard, so we match a portable charger or a Q74 wallbox with a Type 2 connector, or a P72 if you prefer a display to an app. The Range Rover Sport is no exception here. With batteries from 11 to 31.8 kWh that power is enough to charge in a few hours.
What connector do Land Rover plug-in hybrids use?
All 17 versions, from the Defender 110 through the Discovery Sport to the Range Rover family, have a Type 2 connector. There are no cars with a Type 1 socket here, so the B35 charger is not needed. A standard Type 2 cable is enough, and it comes with the 7.4 kW Q74 or P72.
How long does charging a 31.8 kWh battery in a Range Rover take?
The largest battery in the range holds 31.8 kWh and at 7.4 kW it fills in around 4 to 5 hours. The smallest, 11 kWh, needs around 2 hours. On a 3.7 kW unit that same larger pack would charge in roughly 8 to 9 hours.
Why do you not recommend an 11 kW charger for a Land Rover?
No version in our database will accept more than 7.4 kW. A Q11 connected to such a car would deliver only 7.4 kW, exactly the same as a Q74. More powerful equipment does not shorten charging when the car's onboard charger has a lower limit.
Do older Land Rovers from 2017 also work with a Q74?
Yes. Our data covers model years from 2017 to 2026 and across that whole span the onboard power is 7.4 kW and the connector is Type 2. The same Q74 or P72 will serve both an older plug-in hybrid and the newest version in the range.
Range Rover Evoque - Q74 or P72?
With a plug-in battery between 11 and 31.8 kWh, either device will comfortably charge the car overnight. The Q74 and P72 deliver the same 7.4 kW, so charging speed is identical. They differ in operation: you control the Q74 from an app, while the P72 has an LCD display. Both models are portable.
