MG propose chez nous 31 versions réparties en 12 modèles des années 2019 à 2026, avec des batteries allant de 23,2 à 96,5 kWh. En plus des électriques, il y a aussi des hybrides rechargeables : HS et MGS9. Vingt versions se chargent à une puissance de 11 kW et pour elles, nous recommandons le Q11, les 11 autres se situant entre 6,6 et 7,4 kW, donc le Q74 de 7,4 kW est approprié. Toutes sont équipées de Type 2, donc le choix se résume à la puissance : le chargeur mobile ou le wallbox doit correspondre à ce que le véhicule accepte.

The MG4 comes in several versions - is the match the same every time?
Not always. In the MG range 20 of 31 versions have an 11 kW onboard charger and for those a Q11 or P11 is right. The other 11 versions stop at 6.6 or 7.4 kW, meaning a Q74 or P72. The specification of your particular car settles it, not the model name.
Does a 2019 MG ZS EV take the same equipment as the new models?
The connector yes, the power not necessarily. All 31 MG versions from 2019-2026 have a Type 2 socket, so the plug is the same. The onboard power does differ though: older designs more often fall into the 6.6 kW group with a Q74, newer ones into the 11 kW group with a Q11.
How long does charging the largest 96.5 kWh battery take?
At 11 kW, filling 96.5 kWh from a low state takes around 9-10 hours, meaning one night. If the same car had a 6.6 kW onboard charger, the time grows to roughly 15 hours. That is why with large packs in the MG range we establish the AC power first.
I have an MG with a small 23.2 kWh battery - what equipment is enough?
That is the smallest pack in the MG range. At 6.6 kW you will charge it from a low state in around 4 hours, so a 7.4 kW Q74 or P72 is entirely sufficient. A more powerful unit will not speed up the process, because the car's onboard charger is the limit.
Does any MG accept 22 kW?
No. Across the whole range, from the Cyberster through the MG4 to the IM5 and IM6, the upper limit is 11 kW. A Q22 would deliver exactly the same as a Q11 while demanding more of your installation. The maximum that makes sense for this brand is a Q11 or P11, both rated at 11 kW.
How do I check which power group my car belongs to?
Look in the manual or specification for the AC charging parameter. In the MG range you will meet three values: 6.6 kW, 7.4 kW and 11 kW. The first two lead to a Q74 or P72, the third to a Q11 or P11. It is one number that decides the whole match.
