Choosing the right charger for your electric car is simpler than it seems. The key piece of information is the maximum AC onboard charger power in your vehicle. For most popular electric models on the European market the answer is the same: 11 kW AC. We have put together a list of the most popular models and the Ampere Point chargers that will suit them best (at the end of this article).
Tesla Model Y and Model 3: Market Leaders
Tesla Model Y is currently the best-selling electric car in Europe (over 68,000 units sold in H1 2025). Model 3 comes just behind it with nearly 40,000 registrations. Both models have a standard 11 kW AC onboard charger. To make full use of their capabilities you need our Q11 (with WiFi and app) or P11 (simpler, more affordable). Both will charge a Tesla Model Y (60-82 kWh battery) in around 6-8 hours.

Volkswagen ID: A Family of Bestsellers
The Volkswagen ID family (ID.3, ID.4, ID.7) are further European market hits. The VW ID.4 sold over 40,000 units, the ID.7 38,000, and the compact ID.3 37,000. All three models? Standard 11 kW AC. Our Q11 or P11 chargers are a perfect match - the ID.7 with its 77 kWh battery charges in around 7 hours, and the smaller ID.3 (58 kWh) in under 6 hours.

Korean and Czech Bestsellers
Kia EV3 (35,000 sales) is a compact crossover with an 11 kW AC onboard charger - our Q11 or P11 will charge its 58-81 kWh battery in 5-8 hours. Skoda Enyaq (33,000 sales) and the newly launched Skoda Elroq (34,000 sales) also come with 11 kW AC as standard. Likewise, the BMW iX1 (31,000 registrations) in its standard version has an 11 kW AC onboard charger, although a 22 kW option is available - in that case our Q22 is worth considering.

The French Revolution: Renault 5 E-Tech
Renault 5 E-Tech is a retro-futuristic hit (34,000 sales in just half a year). Its smaller battery (40-52 kWh) and standard 11 kW AC onboard charger mean our Q11 or P11 will charge it in just 4-5 hours. A perfect combination for urban drivers.

Chinese Brands: MG and BYD
Chinese brands are growing at a staggering pace (404.5% year-on-year in Poland). MG4 Electric, BYD Seal and BYD Atto 3 all come with an 11 kW AC onboard charger - our Q11 or P11 will provide optimal charging for all of them. MG HS PHEV (plug-in hybrid) also has 11 kW AC, and with its smaller 16.6 kWh battery you can fully charge it in around 1.5 hours.

Exceptions to the Rule
Not every car has 11 kW. The Citroen e-C3 has 7.4 kW AC - for this model we recommend the Q74 or P72. The Nissan Leaf has only 6.6 kW AC - here too the Q74 or P72 is a better fit than overpaying for a Q11.
If you have a version with the optional 22 kW AC onboard charger (e.g. BMW iX1 with the extended package), our Q22 will make full use of your car's potential and cut charging time in half.
Summary
90% of popular electric cars have an 11 kW AC onboard charger. For the vast majority of drivers the answer is straightforward: Q11 (if you want WiFi, an app and the option of adapters for a 230V socket) or P11 (if you need a solid, simpler option). Both are portable, both deliver full 11 kW, and both will charge your car during an overnight stop.
No three-phase CEE socket? Choose the Q11 with adapters - you can charge from a 230V household socket (3.7 kW, slower) and switch to full 11 kW once you have a three-phase installation fitted.
