Which charger do we match to the NIO ET5 and ET5 Touring?
Both versions have an 11 kW onboard charger, as do all 12 NIO versions in our listing. We match an 11 kW Q11, or a P11 if you prefer operating from a display. The Touring suffix in the name does not change the match, because the onboard power is identical in both versions.
Does the larger NIO EL8 need a more powerful charger than the ET5?
No. The EL6, EL7, EL8, ET5, ET5 Touring and ET7 are six models and 12 versions, and every one accepts exactly 11 kW from alternating current. A bigger car only means a bigger battery and a longer charging time, not a different device. For the whole NIO range we match a Q11.
How long does overnight charging of a NIO with a 90 kWh battery take?
A 90 kWh battery at 11 kW charges from a low state to full in around 8 to 9 hours, so it fits into one night. The smaller battery in the NIO range, 73.5 kWh, needs around 7 hours. Both figures refer to alternating current charging at home.
Does the difference between a 73.5 and a 90 kWh battery change the charger choice?
No. Battery capacity affects charging time but not the choice of device. In both cases the NIO draws 11 kW, so the recommendation is a portable charger or a Q11 wallbox. The difference is around an hour and a half of extra charging with the larger battery.
Are there NIO versions that accept 22 kW?
There are no such versions in our listing. All 12 NIO versions from the 2022-2026 model years have 11 kW of onboard power. A 22 kW device connected to a NIO will give the same time as a Q11, because the car will not draw more than its onboard charger allows.
What connector do NIO cars from 2022-2026 have?
