Which charger should you choose for the SsangYong Korando?
The Korando charges from alternating current at 6.6 kW and it is the only version of this model in our database. A 7.4 kW Q74 or P72 matches it - both are portable and differ only in operation. The socket in the car is Type 2 and the battery holds 56 kWh.
Is 7.4 kW too much for a Korando with 6.6 kW onboard?
No. The car sets its own draw, so from a 7.4 kW device it will take its 6.6 kW and not a watt more. The Q74 is the closest power step above the Korando's capability, which is why it is the right choice. A weaker Q37 would slow charging by almost half.
How long does a full charge of the 56 kWh battery in a Korando take?
At 6.6 kW, from empty to full comes out at roughly 8-9 hours, meaning one night parked. Topping up half the battery is around 4 hours. A higher-power charger will not change that, because the limit sits in the car, not in the device.
Does 7.4 kW require a three-phase installation?
No. 7.4 kW is a single phase with a 32 A breaker, so three phases are not needed. That is a convenient situation, because the Korando will not use more than 6.6 kW anyway. Just check that the circuit in your garage is prepared for that current.
Is the match the same for all Korando model years?
