Which charger for the Volkswagen ID.3 or ID.4?
Most ID.3 and ID.4 models accept 11 kW and then we match a Q11 or P11. Watch out for the Pure versions: the database holds 7 versions at 7.2 kW and a Q74 or P72 suits them. Check the AC power in the technical data, because at 7.2 kW an 11 kW device will speed up nothing.
How does the match differ for Volkswagen plug-in hybrids?
The database holds 23 plug-in hybrids and 60 electric cars. The hybrids are the 3.6 kW group, 8 versions, and there a Q37 or P35 applies - the smallest pack holds 7.4 kWh. Separately there are 7 versions at 7.2 kW, which suit a Q74 or P72. We check the AC power, not the drivetrain type.
Do the ID. Buzz LWB and NWB variants differ in charger match?
They do not. Every ID. Buzz version in the database accepts 11 kW, so we match a Q11 or P11. Only the battery differs: the NWB up to 79 kWh is around 7-8 hours, the LWB up to 86 kWh around 8 hours. A longer body does not change the onboard power, so the equipment stays the same.
Is there a version in the Volkswagen range that suits a Q22?
There is not. Across the whole range, meaning 83 versions, the highest AC power is 11 kW. A Q22 has nothing to use here and will charge the car exactly as a Q11 does. That is why the ceiling remains a portable charger or a Q11 wallbox, or a P11 with a display. We match power to the car, not in reserve.
How long does charging a plug-in hybrid with a 7.4 kWh pack take?
At 3.6 kW that is around 2 hours, at 7.2 kW little more than an hour. Small packs are topped up quickly, so a more powerful device is not necessary here. By comparison, an electric car with an 86 kWh battery at 11 kW needs around 8 hours.
Do the commercial e-Transporter and e-Caravelle need a different socket?
No. All 83 versions in the database, from the 2014 to the 2026 model year, have Type 2. Type 1 and the B35 model do not occur in this range. The differences come down to onboard power: 3.6, 7.2 or 11 kW - and that is what decides the charger.
